Billing Clerk
Brooks & Berne, a minority-owned law firm with offices in New York & New Jersey has an opening for a Billing Clerk. This position is fully remote.
The role of Billing Clerk will be responsible for generating monthly invoices to clients and carriers. The billing clerk will be responsible for keeping up with carrier guidelines and submitting invoices according to those carrier guidelines. The Billing Clerk will also be responsible for establishing, documenting and maintaining a billing process for the Firm. The Billing Clerk would also assist with accounts payable and collections.
Reports to: Billing Manager
Duties and Responsibilities:
Generate monthly invoices to clients/carriers in for a monthly volume in excess of $350,000
Be knowledgeable of individual carrier guidelines
Regularly update carrier guidelines.
Document department processes for invoicing
Conduct research, compile data, and prepare papers for consideration and presentation to the owner.
Required Skills:
Previous experience with billing (spot checking of time entries/ generating the bills for review / sending out the approved bills)
Specific knowledge of the following e-billing systems: Legal X / Legal Tracker / Counsel Link / FTP / Quovant (including submission of Timekeepers Rate Sheets / Invoices / Budgets / Appeals)
Experienced in emailing invoices to adjusters with professional writing skills
Experienced in working with client / billing department to confirm billing procedures
Experienced in review of billing and litigation guidelines to ensure SPECIFIC knowledge of individual requirements
Other Qualifications:
3+ years work related experience
Experienced in Microsoft 365. Working knowledge of Practice Panther a plus.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Strong phone etiquette
- Ability to build strong and healthy relationships with team members, vendors and clients.
A successful track record in the area of organization and scheduling skills.
